Summer eats, making a garden & too many rabbits
A quiet day at home pottering in the garden, cooking and tending to the many rabbits we now have. I touch on cooking from scratch, the joy of making a garden and share my recipes.
When I think about some of my happiest moments in life they usually consist of the simplest things…slow starts to the day, cups of tea and watching my girls with their animals. I think you really have to settle into the simplicity of life in order to really take in these little daily glimmers.
Just like most people it can be in the moment of these ordinary days that I struggle to see past the endless cooking, the tidying and the general feeling of being a ‘dogsbody’ but in reflection I realise that these little moments are what life is all about. I wrote this piece and then read it back and it made me happy.
I hope you enjoy it. Its the penultimate episode in series 1 of Food, Love and Other Things that Matter.
Home made flat breads
Ingredients
200g all purpose flour (or somethings I use 00)
1 tsp of sugar
1 tsp of salt
2 tbsp of olive oil
130ml of warm water
Method
Heat a pan on the hob to hot
Measure out the flour and add it to a bowl with the sugar, salt and olive oil and give it a light mix
Add the water and mix into a light dough
Transfer to a clean floured work surface and bring together into a ball. Divide into four and then roll out each to around half a centre metre thick. Circle (ish!) shaped
Fry each one in the hot pan for around 2 minutes on each side. They should puff up where there are air pockets.
